In 1735 Benjamin Franklin wrote “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.  He was speaking about preventing fires but this statement also holds true in preventing fires in the revenue cycle of a medical practice.  There are items that can be taken care of before a patient is served that will help prevent delays or reductions in payment.   At Medical Management Support Services we help the practices that we serve to prevent fires in their accounts receivable.

This can include assistance with methods to collect information from patients and even scripts to help staff speak to patients effectively.  Knowing how to effectively ask for information or payment can go a long way in helping a patient to be satisfied with their care.  We recognize that it is a team effort and we provide assistance with our medical billing practice that reaches from the front to back office depending on the need.

We receive information from our clients in many ways – from paper to electronic.

Our solutions can include powerful scheduling software with options for automated insurance eligibility and appointment reminders.  We can also interface with your electronic health records system if they are able to provide outbound HL7 files.  We provide assistance to help clinical staff capture accurate demographic information and tools to collect payment at the time of service.  Next, we provide tools to help capture charges and assure all services are documented properly.   Once we receive encounter information claims are processed by our staff and passed through custom edits (aka scrubbing) to assure accuracy prior to submission for processing.  Payments are posted and deposited into our client’s bank account and all unpaid, improperly paid, or delayed items are pursued by our staff.  This includes the pursuit of balances due from insurance or the patient including all patient statements.  We provide a team approach including ongoing staff training and cross training for all processes.  Throughout the entire process, we capture accurate data and use it skillfully to enable custom reporting to provide insight into all areas of the practice.  Good decisions are based on good data.
